Description

What Apple built this phone for

The iPhone X was Apple's tenth-anniversary iPhone, the device that introduced Face ID, the Super Retina OLED display and the edge-to-edge design that every iPhone since has followed. Released in November 2017, it was a turning point. Today, the iPhone X is the entry point to Apple Face ID and OLED at the lowest possible price, for buyers who want the iPhone experience without a large outlay.

Display

5.8-inch Super Retina OLED, 458ppi, with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and True Tone. The display quality holds up well in 2026. Text is sharp, colours are vivid and contrast is excellent. It remains one of the best-looking small-screen iPhones available.

Camera

Dual 12MP rear cameras with OIS on both lenses and 2x optical zoom. Portrait Mode works on front and rear. 4K video at up to 60fps. The camera still produces strong results for everyday photography, social media and video calls.

Face ID and build

Face ID unlocks the phone in under a second in most lighting conditions. The stainless steel and glass construction feels premium. At 174g and 143.6mm tall it is genuinely compact compared to modern phones. IP67 water resistance included.

iOS and updates

The iPhone X received its final update at iOS 16. It will not receive iOS 17 or later. This is the most important thing to understand before buying. Existing apps continue to work. New apps requiring iOS 17 or later will not install. For buyers who want the latest iOS features or long-term update support, consider a newer iPhone model.

Frequently Asked Questions

1- Will the iPhone X still receive iOS updates?
No. The iPhone X reached the end of iOS support at iOS 16.7. It will not receive iOS 17, iOS 18 or any future major iOS updates. Existing apps continue to work. However, some newer apps and games now require iOS 17 or later and will not install. If long-term iOS support matters to you, we would recommend the iPhone 12 or later.

2- Is it worth buying the iPhone X in 2026?
Yes, for the right use case. If you want Face ID, an OLED display and iOS at the lowest price, the iPhone X delivers. Cameras remain capable for everyday use. The key trade-off is iOS 16 being the final version, which limits access to some newer apps.

3- Is it unlocked for all UK networks?
Yes. Every device is fully unlocked and works on EE, O2, Vodafone, Three, Sky Mobile, iD Mobile, giffgaff and all other UK virtual networks.

4- What is the battery health guarantee?
All batteries are checked and must meet a minimum 80% health before dispatch. Devices that do not pass the battery check are either reconditioned or removed from sale.

5- Does the iPhone X support Apple Pay?
Yes. NFC and Apple Pay are fully supported. Note: it uses Apple Pay, not Google Pay.

6- Does it have wireless charging?
Yes. The iPhone X supports Qi wireless charging. It will work with any Qi-compatible wireless charger.

7- How does Face ID work on a refurbished device?
Face ID is tied to the device hardware, not a previous owner’s biometric data. After a secure data wipe, Face ID is reset and works exactly as it would on a new device once you set up your face.

8- Is Grade B worth buying over Grade A on the iPhone X?
For most buyers, yes. Grade B saves £10–20 versus Grade A. Any cosmetic marks are typically light scratches on the stainless steel frame or rear glass. barely visible with a case on.
